Ultra Sound
We have a state of the art ACUSON SEQUOIA, a
multi-capability ultrasound unit.
We perform multi-specialty ultrasound, including abdominal, obstetrical,
gynecological, small parts, adult echocardiography and vascular.
Our Sonographers are highly trained and experienced.
We average 7 to 8 ultrasound exams a day, Monday through Friday.
Our Cardiac Ultrasound is interpreted by Dr. Anil Sahai or Dr. Charles
Heggen. All other ultrasounds are interpreted by one of the radiologists of
Iowa Radiology.
An Ultrasound is an examination of a body part with sound waves. Body parts
that we examine with ultrasound include the thyroid, liver, gallbladder,
pancreas, kidneys, spleen, breast, testicles, aorta, carotids, veins of the
legs, uterus, ovaries, all stages of a pregnancy and the adult heart.
The conditions that affect the quality of an ultrasound image are gas (air)
and patient size.
Some exams require fasting (abdominal) and some require a full bladder
(female pelvic and some stages of a pregnancy)
