A stress test is a graded treadmill exercise used to determine blood flow or
rhythm problems with the heart.
While on the treadmill, patients are closely monitored by EKG at the
different levels of exercise intensity.
A stress test may help evaluate:

• Exercise induced asthma
• An irregular or prolapsed heart valve
• Blockages
• The severity of cardiovascular disease
• Blood pressure response to exercise
• Blood pressure medication control
• Exercise tolerance
