The Palomar Medilux Pulsed Light System is the newest available technology using pulses of intense lamplight to target the pigment in the hair bulb underneath the skin. By doing this it causes the hair bulb to momentarily heat up and be destroyed. The hair falls out, and the body is unable to create a new hair in its place. The procedure is performed with a special light-emitting sensor, which is applied directly over the area to be treated. The patient will typically only feel a small snapping sensation, like a rubber band being flicked gently against the skin. Following treatment there may be some local irritation similar to a mild sunburn, which will last for no more than a few hours. Any area of the body (face, arms, chest, back, legs, bikini, to name a few) can be safely treated with this method, except around the eyes.

Traditional hair removal methods, which essentially tear the hair follicle out of the skin, can be quite painful. The Medilux Pulsed Light System, is considerably more comfortable and in most cases, permanent, depending upon the skin and hair type..
